This is the first pitbull I fostered. A year ago in May, he became the first young, healthy animal in my life to be euthanized. The last week of his life was excruciating. On Sunday the decision was made, on Friday he was gone. On Thursday I printed four photos of Munch from our last week together. It took me a year to finally scan them and face him again.
I’d like to write about these dogs and their uncertain futures but the ideas continue to float aimlessly around my mind. Disconnected by anger and frustration, it’s a losing battle. You can’t save them all. Even, sometimes, your own. -
